A biography written by Tina Dreffin, Bluewater Walkabout, captures the adventurous life of Mrs. Dreffin amazingly. Tina overcame many traumatic events during her young adulthood. She hit rock bottom, practically forced to leave her job, the only means to support herself. She was left with no job nor a car, and scars upon her heart that were unseen. Despite her struggles, she prevailed on and later found herself on grand adventures with her Husband and children. Some of her adventures included sailing across the Caribbean Sea and flying to South Africa to gain experiences never seen before.

First, I'd like to say I enjoyed reading Tina's story. She has overcome so much in her life I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat many times as I struggled to put the book down. The Author took special care to include facts about different animals, such as African Hippos. She also included facts and statistics for sexual assault victims, I found this to be extremely helpful while reading as well. There were very little grammatical errors throughout the book, which I personally attribute to the author putting an abundance of time into. I believe that small factor adds great value to the desire to continue reading.

Secondly, I did not find many negative things about Bluewater Walkabout, however, I would like to address the overuse of adjectives. While a good description is of course great, I felt there were times the story would have flown smoother had there been a little less of a description. A short, few sentence description for example, in place of a two paragraph one might be a good alternative in some places.

Overall, I rate this book a 3 out of 4 stars. I choose this rating because the book is truly an amazing tale of adventures and sets a perfect example of what someone can overcome if they set their mind to it. I did not give the extra star because the overuse of adjectives did start to bother me after about halfway through the book.

I would recommend this book to a young adult audience, due to the mention of sexual assault, infant loss, depression, and anxiety. I feel a young adult has just the right amount of maturity to handle these subjects. I also believe the book could be a great form of education for those who may not be aware of what could happen in those situations. Furthermore, someone who has already gone through the same experiences, they may find solace in knowing they are not alone.
