Bluewater Walkabout: Into Africa is an intriguing memoir written by Tina Dreffin. In this book, Tina particularly disclosed the adventurous travels she embarked on with her family. The author, her husband, and two kids began their first adventurous journey when they decided to travel to Johannesburg, South Africa. As expected, the kids were excited about the new development. Will they eventually have an enjoyable experience? What other countries will they visit as part of their adventure? Apart from these travel episodes, the writer explored topics such as motivations to attain personal growth, some of the difficult moments she experienced as a person, and how she overcame them, among others.

One thing that stood out for me in this book was how the author revealed her distressing personal experiences. It is common knowledge that it takes courage to reveal our pains, especially when there is the possibility of being criticized by anyone. Therefore, I respect the author for sharing her ordeals. This is because there were several lessons embedded in them. I also loved how the author gave vivid descriptions of various occurrences in the countries she visited. Due to this, I was able to create a mental picture of the events that were described. The thought-provoking quotes at strategic points in this book caught my interest. These quotes were from well-known figures such as Maya Angelou, Shing Xiong, and many others. These quotes were necessary because they buttressed certain ideas. Also, I appreciated how the author incorporated humor while writing. This was exciting and subsequently added more life to the book.

On the downside, it is necessary to state that I did not like how the novel ended abruptly. I believe that the author could have developed some aspects further. This was unappealing because I had questions that were never answered. This reduced my overall appreciation of Bluewater Walkabout: Into Africa by Tina Dreffin.

Owing to what I found unappealing about this book, I will give it a rating of three out of four stars. I would have given it a perfect rating if everything had worked for me. Unfortunately, this was not so. On the other hand, I did not come across any errors while reading. Hence, I can say that this was an exceptionally well-edited book.

This novel will appeal to individuals who love books about adventurous travel experiences and dealing with mental stress. As such, I recommend it to them.
