Review of Building A Coaching Culture
The past couple of years have been quite an experience for businesses globally. The Coronavirus pandemic forced businesses to change their classic approach to their operations all in a bid to stay above water. Those businesses which adapted appropriately are still operational today but those businesses which could not adapt accordingly were forced to shut down. In hindsight, this may not have been preventable but a different approach to leadership would very possibly have saved these unfortunate enterprises from going under.
Building A Coaching Culture is just the book that possesses the building blocks for the change in approach needed to put a stop to this problem. Andreas Von Der Heydt brings his wealth of knowledge to the fore in such a way that it can best be described as cold hard facts. His explanations are so simplistic and obvious it is surprising that the suggestions in this book are not the order of the day in the business world.
From the moment I started reading the book, one of the most noticeable things I really liked about it is the author's meticulous attention to detail; He uses a language that is simple and concise, which in turn makes it easy for anyone to understand and follow his work. The use of diagrams and charts in the explanation process goes a long way in terms of a pictorial aid to understanding the work, especially when the reader becomes overburdened with the effort of going through so many technical details. It may initially seem like the author is focused on the coaching aspect of his research but there are so many other important yet overlooked aspects of business management to which he gives insightful advice. For example, the distinction between leadership and management stands out for me.
I did not like the fact that there were very few diagrams or charts in this book. It is my personal opinion that the more pictorial material in a book of this nature, the easier it will be for people to read and understand the book better. I understand that references are a very important aspect of works of this nature but the author's constant referencing of his work did affect my ability to follow his research conveniently. I feel a little less referencing within the material itself would not have reduced the quality of the book while making it easier to follow.
If you are looking to start a business, with a view to keeping it profitable, I would recommend you read this book. The information you will get from this book is just what you need. Business owners who are presently struggling to stay afloat can learn a thing or two from this book.
With a message that is vital to the present global economic situation, Building A Coaching Culture stands out as a worthwhile piece of work. The editing is quite professional as I did not find a lot of errors in the book. I rate this book,4 out of 4 stars.
