We are at an age where any information we seek is made available to us with a click. We have very easy access to enormous information from diverse sources. Due to this diversity, verifying the authenticity of information is difficult. Along with this diversity also comes contradictions. This leads to confusion for those that need such information. The health sector is badly affected by this. People have taken unnecessary risks with their lives and finances because of different misleading information flying around them.

Morton E. Tavel, MD, put it on himself to curb this problem of misinformation in the health sector. He put together this book, Health Tips, Myths, And Tricks. The book provides a comprehensive guide on major health issues like weight loss, colds, dietary supplements, energy drinks, organic foods, body detoxification, and a lot more.

All of these were gotten from his knowledge as an MD, his experiences from years of practice, and access to primary sources of accurate information from various health research institutions.

One of the things I so much love about the book is how Tavel shows the two sides to every issue he discussed in the book. After which he lends the reader his two cents on what decision is best. This is great because readers can understand for themselves what’s on the other side of all the options available to them. With this, they can make their decisions knowing what the outcome could be, so they can be prepared for it. Also, not being overly assertive made it obvious he’s not just trying to sell himself or a product.

Another thing I love about the book is how easy it was to follow. The fact that each chapter was focused on different health issues could have restricted the flow of the book, but it did not. Even with a note of independence in each chapter, keeping up with the flow of information was not as difficult as I had anticipated when I started with it.

Moreover, the note of independence in each chapter enables readers go straight to whatever chapter contains the information they need. They can do this without the fear of losing out on too much information from other chapters. Every chapter has enough comprehensive information on whatever is discussed in it.

The book is well written and professionally edited. It is also filled with very useful health information and I have nothing negative to say about it.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because it is such a vault of useful health information, written in everyday language. This makes it easy for every reader to understand. It also serves as a bridge between the tons of misleading health information out there and the different available research journals, mostly written in science jargon, which many readers may find difficult to understand.

I recommend this book for anyone seeking accurate health information and for those looking to make certain decisions about their health. It contains an array of information that would guide them into making the best decisions for themselves.
