Review of Health Tips, Myths, and Tricks
Health Tips, Myths, and Tricks is a health book. It is a non-fiction book written by Dr. Morton E Tavel who is a physician. The book contains techniques on how to handle health related problems, how to live healthy by taking the proper amount of food, and how food intake affects our daily activities.
The title is clear on what the reader should expect when reading the book. The book is divided in three sections, containing sixty-two chapters. The first part, tips, focuses on advice and tips impacting our daily life and our health. In this section, there is robust information on the list of healthy, unhealthy foods, and drinks. He uses scientific findings to discuss the benefits, and diseases caused by various foods and soft drinks when taken. In the second section, he explains some misconceptions and fallacies available in the society. Some of those misconceptions explains about allergies, organic food, genetically modified food, energy drinks, raw milk and others which the reader will capture while reading the book. In the last section, he narrates some medical scams used in the society. Medical practitioners are the ones who circulate this flaw to manipulate the public to purchase their items. Some scams are alkaline water and detoxifying agents.
I liked the book. The author was well detailed explaining health related matters and issues. He gave examples using practical scenarios in making this book interesting to read. He used scientific research as a backup while explaining various concepts such as sugar uptake on your body, the effect of painkillers, and many others. The author added his own conclusion at the end of each chapter, making the reader to remember what he has actually explained in that chapter. He used simple English for easier understanding.
It is an educational book. I advise the reader to take time in understanding the concepts in this book and practice them on health. The author has detailed information on how to take care of your diet and keeping your body fit. As Josh Billings said, "Health is like money. We never have a true idea of its value until we lose it.”
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I have no critic to give on the book. It was well written and explained in an interesting manner. Scientific evidence was efficient making the reader to adhere with the ideas in this book. I found no flaws in the book. It was exceptionally well edited. In conclusion, I recommend persons interested to learn about health to read this book.
