Review of Marco Martinez
Marco Martinez by R.M. Allan is an action thriller novel starred by the title heading character, Marco Martinez, a bounty hunter. The first chapter is titled A Bad Morning In Sublimity Strolls. One morning, Boyd, a courthouse employee, goes to see his brother, John, for breakfast, only to find that John is cornered by an outlaw forcing him to sign court documents for his brother whom he wanted to save from the jail sentence he was serving. Due to Boyd's failure of finding help on time to stop the thug threatening his brother, the outlaw succeeded with his drama, but his success was cut short by Marco Martinez's intervention.
The book has some short stories and one long storyline. The long plotline was the most captivating with a lot of twists and turns. Here is a summary of the story: One day Marco Martinez, the bounty hunter visits the sheriff to request a task, and he was given a job to get Bondelro, a well-known crafted bank robber. The task was not as he assumed it to be. On his way, he met different people who all told him that getting Bondelro was not an easy task to do alone, but with his dogged determination, he was focused to do the job alone even without any help, one reason being that he wasn't ready to trust anyone as the betrayals he once experienced in life tamed his trust. But as he progressed with his mission, he faced some challenges which taught him something. For instance, at one point, he encountered Bondelro and his gang, but things went bad for him as the situation turned out to be in favor of the gang. He was injured and seemed to be cornered by Bondelro and his men. What happened to Marco? Did he succeed in his mission alone? What lesson did he learn from the mission? All these questions are answered in this book.
I liked Allan's strategy of captivating readers' attention. The book began with short suspense stories which I thought would continue at some point as my read progressed, but only to find myself glued on a long but different storyline, which in itself captivated my attention in a suspensive way till the last page. The writing style and language have a clear tone and without much usage of profane words. On the other hand, at first, I felt bad for the long conversations scenes, for they stood in the way of my quest to know what will happen next, which I suggest that precise could have added another touch of excellence to the entertainment of this novel. But all in all, they are not anything to dislike. I guess it was the author's way of instilling some teachings to his audience which I believe can help someone in one way or the other.
I think the book was Professionally edited because it has no serious errors that could distract the reading flow.
In closing, I rate this book four out of four stars because the story is good and it was professionally edited. I couldn't find any reason for taking out a star from this novel Marco Martinez. Even the conversations are profitable in real life.
I recommend it to action thriller fans, crime-drama, C/T/M/H, adventure, and genres fans. I guess non-fiction and some who might be sensitive to blood contents may be excused from this novel.
