Randy the Irresistible by S M Goodier is a British comedy book about the life of a man named Randy Love. Randy Love is young, handsome, and has a deceptively charming disposition. Randy is a self-obsessed person with good looks and thinks of everyone else as lucky to have him as part of their life. With his good looks and charm, he has women who seem to fall at his feet almost everywhere he goes. The book features how Randy was forced to grow up in the real world. Randy drops out of college and decides to get a job to get his dad off his back when he gets an offer to become a financial advisor in London. Randy takes the opportunity and decides to sit for the exams which he passes. Despite Randy being intelligent in studies and being believed to have a photographic memory, Randy is foolish on some things about the world and makes some pretty bad decisions. He depends mostly on his brother James and Sister Harriet and his dad to solve his problems mostly money problems. As he tries to settle in his new job in London he goes through a series of horrible living arrangements.

What I liked the most about this book was Randy's dry humor and immature behavior and how illogical he was most of the time. The life of Randy as presented in the book gives many lessons and teachings about the real world. I liked how the author portrayed Randy not only as handsome with a charm to attract women but also as an intelligent young man who despite having many setbacks does not give up but tries to find a solution for the problem at hand. I liked the fact that although Randy had a knack for getting himself in bad situations, he always found a way to get past it and solve the problem, either by thinking of a way to get his dad to help him, friends but he could always come up with a solution. The book gives a lesson that although looks may seem important in life without brains, one cannot survive the day-to-day challenges that they may come across.

What I did not like about the book was Randy's questionable behavior towards women. Even though he knew he had brains and looks women are supposed to be treated with care and empathy because they are deemed fragile human beings. This was the only part of the book that I did not like and everything else about the book is amazing. Randy despite his immaturity tried so hard to grow up and handle his problems without including his father was something that touched me.

The book teaches many life lessons and it's an example of the day-to-day problems that we go through. I admired the character Randy because of his resilience and determination of putting his best to achieve what he has set his mind to. Even though his behavior sometimes was wanting, he did not cease to amaze me at all. I would recommend the book to the older generation and also the readers should be aware that there is explicit language and sexual content which may be inappropriate for younger readers.

I rate the book 3 out of 4 stars because the book was fun to read and it involves carefree humor and the playfulness of the protagonist is amazing. The narration is amazing and the book does not disappoint at all.
