Review of Adrift
I have read a few books that were authored by Charlie Sheldon. I have loved a lot of them. He has shown himself as an author worthy of all our love. The way he writes his books is proof that he cares about the quality of novels that his readers read.
My mum told me stories about sailors who met cruel fates in vast waters when I was little. Some died, but there were always those that survived. Adrift reminds me of those stories. It told me the story of a group of salvagers who were taunted by everyone in their line of work because of how slow they had become. Desperate for a break from all of these, they accepted the challenge to salvage a burning vessel. Unknown to them, the people aboard the ship had survived the fire. They jumped into the water, but the question of whether they would survive comes up many times. One of the sailors that jumped was William. He will have to lead his team. He will, even though the island that they were cast on is bent on picking them all off till there is nothing left.
Of all its features, I liked the images that the author put in my head the most. No, he did not have to put pictures or drawings in the book for this to happen. All he had to do was tell the story in the most captivating way, and I saw the things he talked about in my head. That is a valuable talent that he has there. This picture and everything in the book were what I liked.
Saying that I liked everything about the book can be translated to mean that I disliked nothing about it. I am always happy whenever an author writes a book that fits my description of unapologetic excellence. Furthermore, it was free of errors, and I didn't see any misplaced punctuation, typos, or misspelled words. I am happy that this author edited his book excellently. This excellence is a reason to celebrate him.
I give Adrift a 4 out of 4 because I liked everything about it and had a good time in the world into which Charlie Sheldon whisked me away. I want everybody who loves stories about sailors to read this book. I cannot imagine anybody hating or disliking it. Anyway, I recommend it to people who enjoy books like this, with the piece of advice that they prepare their minds for a sequel.
