Review of The Maestro Monologue
The Maestro Monologue by Rob White is an inspiring 220 page piece to help any reader break the bonds of self-sabotage and leap into a life full of unlimited possibilities. The author starts the first half by introducing “miss-understandings” and the Ultimate Understanding (UU). The UU is a small passage meant to be repeated out loud to help transform your mindset from diminishing to empowering. This helps set the reader up for the rest of the book since the second half introduces “the intruder” and how to use your newfound knowledge to become a Maestro! So it’s full of even more powerful anecdotes and mental practices to help us overcome self-sabotaging habits.
I thoroughly enjoyed all of the hard-hitting truths this author brought to the table. Some of the key points included were the importance of how we talk to ourselves, we ultimately create our own experiences, and anything we truly desire is always within our reach. Mr. White also reiterated one of my favorite passages from another self-help book. He worded it differently, but the overall point is there will only ever be one of you in the past, present and future. How mind blowing is that statement?! Seriously, let that one sink in for a moment.
I had a really hard time reading this novel because of the author’s formal style of writing. It read more like a textbook instead of a conversation. This is important to keep in mind for this genre because it makes the material easier to comprehend and apply to the reader’s everyday life. For example, “the path to personal growth requires we stop insisting we already understand all there is to understand about ourselves…”could have been worded “The path to personal growth is to stop insisting we understand everything about ourselves.”
My rating for The Maestro Monologue is 3 out of 4 stars. The author indulged the reader with an exceptional amount of life lessons and key takeaways. I docked a star because of the type of language and writing style used. This book was professionally edited since I did not find any spelling or grammatical errors. There were no instances of profanity or sexual content.
I highly recommend this self-help book for anyone who is always looking to better themselves mentally. This book is geared towards adults because of the advanced language. There are some biblical scripture references but this doesn’t have an effect on the type of audience. So if you enjoy reading the self-help genre, this is a book you should pick up at least once.
