People should be aware of what they are getting themselves into when they want be a consultant. The book, The MECE Muse by Christie Lindor, gives all the information of what the consultant job is all about. In consultant job, ignorance is not bliss; it's quite expensive. To be a great consultant, is to first understand the definition of the role, history of the profession and to have an impartial mental map of what experience looks like in consulting. One of the ways to be a great consultant is by the use of MECE rule. It is a consulting lingo and for many management consultant, a way of being. MECE describes a technique on how business problems are visualized and understood in order to solve the root cause. The goal of a consultant is to become a trusted advisor who is called upon at any time to help readers shape strategic decisions to address complex business problems within their organization. It is also used to create value added impact to a client's career and team. Also to create relationships, make decisions and build experiences. Great consultant are also natural leaders who take care of their people. They are confident enough to admit fault and not having the answer. They give credit to their teams and have authentic interactions. They seek to understand others instead on focusing on being understood. The author also encourages unity in the consulting job, a consultant should seek and cultivate a tribe of colleagues including mentors.

I love the author's choice of topic discussed in the book. It is something she has experience in. She has dealt with the mistakes she has made before and guided on how to avoid them to those interested in the same. She has included some motivational statements to encourage those fighting to make it in consulting career. She has used a table in the book to make it easy to understand the concept in the book.

The major issue with the book is that it is wholly written for consultants and will be less useful to those who are not interested in consulting jobs. However, the book is owesome having no errors whatsoever.

I rate the book four out of four stars. This is because the book is very educative. There is no noticeable mistakes. It is a career book so useful to those who are looking for a better life.

The book is well suited to those who want to join consulting profession. I would also recommend the book to students who are taking the consultation course. Lastly those who are currently working as consultants and want to succeed, should get the book.
