Rise of the Savior: Acolyte of Truth is an urban fantasy book by Antoine Bonner. Amanda is 18 years old, and all she wants to do is leave her little town and attend college. Aside from that, she wants to participate in karate, dreamed of joining UFC and, most importantly, she wants to understand her odd, precocious 6-year-old sister. The last thing she would want was to be selected by a god from the past. Being an acolyte of truth and saving humanity, she never wanted nor asked for any of this. However, she knew she can't stop it. After surviving a car accident, Amanda gains abilities she never imagined possible, the ability to summon weapons from nowhere and the ability to tell when she is being lied to. Even worse, she is now expected to utilize her abilities to preserve the peace and order of the planet, with her first task being to battle an Acolyte of Death. Amanda accepts the challenge of becoming her destiny and saving humanity after being thrust into a world she had no idea existed.

It's an intriguing story with a novel premise that makes for an enjoyable read. It's one of those books that you can't put down once you start reading it. Furthermore, it's got a lot of action and a wonderful narrative that's easy to follow and get invested in. It's the kind of narrative you might envisage as a Japanese anime.

The characters are well-developed, particularly our primary heroine, a strong female lead who will stay with you for a long time. The author created such a masterpiece and is completely aware and understands how to entice and keep his audience engaged till the very end. Also, I would like to emphasize the lessons we can learn by reading this book. Despite being more on the fiction side, this book relates to a lot of values one can have, like family bonds and how we can always explore solutions on the bright side and do not completely succumb to the darkness.

However, for some, especially critically religious ones, some parts of this book include themes such as questioning of faith and the like. One must be knowledgeable that these issues, however, are merely part of the progress and development of the plot, in order to give the story a strong grip and catch of the readers. This book also has mild language and brutal scenes that can trigger someone’s thoughts and emotions.

Whilst reading the book, I did not capture any errors, concluding that it has undergone rigorous editing process. Therefore, this book deserves the maximum rating, a 4 out of 4 stars. I strongly recommend this book to the fans of urban fantasy.
