A child is a blessing. Many families pray for them to come. When they grace this earth with their presence, there is much celebration. But there are times when these kids are born before their time Some do not even make it. Some go with miscarriages. Some are born but live for just a few seconds or hours. Surely, the thought of losing these little ones can be overwhelming on the parents but Anna-Karen Sorensen reassures parents that all is not lost in the collection of poems that she titles A Fate Unwound Too Soon.

I like how the author/poet poetically chronicled the care that doctors give to babies born prematurely. She also established the belief that although some babies may not make it for long due to one condition or another, they are resting in a better place. This will go a long way toward giving bereaved parents some succor.

Some of the poems were written from the babies' point of view, and that was just so sweet. I know that there is no way that one can know what a baby is thinking about, but it was quite refreshing to see what the author did (which was try to guess what was going on in the head of the child).

My favorite thing in the book is the pictures of little babies included in the pages of this beautiful poem. These pictures may not be cute or may not make readers smile, but they made me see a bit of what premature babies go through to survive in this world of ours.

With how excellently edited this book of poems was and the message that it beautifully passed across, I couldn't bring myself to dislike anything in it. I found myself wishing that the book was longer. I would have gladly devoured every single line and word.

A Fate Unwound Too Soon receives 4 out of 4 from me. I applaud the author for the beautiful talent that she displayed on the pages of this book. I also congratulate her on an exceptionally edited piece. I recommend this collection of poetry to poem lovers. If you truly appreciate poems and the messages that they carry, you will like A Fate Unwound Too Soon. Also, if you have recently lost a little child, reading this book may help you find some peace and closure. For those who are yet to be parents but wish to know a bit about caring for kids, this book will satisfy a bit of your hunger for knowledge.
