Review of Who Told You That You Were Naked?
Who Told You That You Were Naked? by William E. Combs is a biblically based novel that addresses the aspects of sin. As a story that draws its teachings from various books of the Bible, including Genesis, Joshua, Galatians, Matthew, and Luke, this novel is exceptionally written and easy to follow. The novel is divided into various chapters which address various matters. It begins by giving us a detailed account of how sin entered into the world through Adam and Eve. When God created the universe, man was his most precious creation, and he named him Adam. God gave Adam various instructions which he was to abide by.
However, with time Adam felt incomplete, and thus God created Eve from Adam's rib. This companion, however, became tempted by the serpent, and Eve ate the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge. After persuading Adam to eat the fruit, their eyes became opened, and they felt ashamed of their nakedness. The author of this book unveils the truth about this biblical account and shares to us the deeper meaning of feeling naked. When we live in a world ridden full of sin, we start to feel ashamed, and the presence of God departs from us.
What I loved the most about this book was the author's knowledgeable information on matters of the Bible. He seemed well versed with the story of the creation which led to the fall of humankind. He has incorporated all the different verses that he has referred to from the Bible. It enabled me to flow with the story easily as I did not have to go back and forth through the Bible trying to read the verses. I also enjoyed the real life experiences that he has shared in the story.
I was unable to find anything that I could use to criticize this novel. I can attribute this to it being an excellent read which contained no grammatical errors or typos. The book gives very in-depth teachings of sin, how to live free of sin, God's redemption and salvation through his son Jesus Christ, and the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. This book sheds life on how we can go back to God even after our fall because he is merciful and forgiving.
I would rate this novel 4 out of 4 stars because I enjoyed reading it immensely. As a Christian, I was well versed with most of the verses, especially those from Matthew and Luke. I would recommend this novel to people seeking guidance on salvation and feeling God's peace in their lives.
