"What's Forever For?" by Dr. George "Jeep" Naum explores the love, passion, pain and vulnerability involved in building and sustaining a healthy marriage. The book paints a realistic picture of what most, if not all marriages look like. Dr. Naum explores various marriages: that of Delores and Phillip, John and Elaine, and Denise and Frank. He assesses their strengths, weaknesses as well as the reasons for the failures and successes of these marriages, in the hopes that readers learn from them. Having experienced the rigors of the medical profession firsthand, the author also specifically dedicates a chapter of the book to his fellow physicians, schooling them on the ways of sustaining a healthy marriage while dealing with their profession obligations.

Besides the free marriage counseling tips, one positive aspect of this book is it's realistic approach to marriage. The author, as much as possible, paints a truthful picture of what most, if not all marriages looked like across three generations. He points out real life problems and proffers real life solutions to them. He shows what lies beyond the fairy tales of happily ever after. He explores real challenges that present themselves in all marriages and goes on to explain how they can be solved. He goes a step further by introducing problems that can be managed, but have no permanent solution. This realistic take on matrimony is commendable.

A Negative aspect of this book is that the sample marriages accessed by Dr. Naum creates a few restrictions. Giving realistic accounts of some marriages, accessing them, and exploring what they could've done better, makes for a wholesome read, but may not necessarily address all the problems that may arise in real life marriages. This is because all marriages are faced with their own unique problems. That being said, the author tries his best to touch on all the common problems we see in modern day marriages.

I give this book a 3 out of 4 stars rating because despite having a few grammatical errors, it is a wholesome read. It is also well written in a simple and understandable manner.

This book is suitable for a variety of readers. I recommend it to married couples, couples in the courting stage of their relationship, lovers who have intentions of progressing into something more conventional, single persons with the intention of starting a serious relationship, and any adult person who is still drawn to the allure of a happy marriage.
