The Reel Sisters by Michelle Cummings is a story revolving around five women. This women come from different backgrounds, with different personalities and different ages. The eldest is about sixties while the youngest is in her early twenties. They are bounded by a fun sport known as fly fishing. They all seem to have met through Sophie except for the last member to join the group, Melody. Sophie met Rose at a fly shop as she was gazing over the hundreds of flies which were tucked into little fly boxes. As Sophie was giggling about some funny names given to the flies, Rose joined in and explained how the Witty names given to the flies made her laugh two weeks earlier when she visited the shop. They both kicked off from there and became friends since then. The second is Veronica who met Sophie while on the plane and as soon as they greeted each other they started enjoying one another's company. They even talked about Sophie's fun sport, fly fishing all the way to their destination. The third one is Amanda. Sophie and Amanda met at a party organized by Sophie's community as a free weekend for local soldiers and their families to come and have a fun family outing every fall. Her husband is in the military and so Amanda tugged along. The four women enjoys there time at a cabin while fly fishing in the river during their holidays. This is where they met their fifth member, Melody. Melody was about to drown after deciding to go and take nude snaps of herself in the icy river. The four women rescued her and they started bonding henceforth.

The group seems to enjoy each other's company and the short times they spend together. Aside from the passion of fly fishing, they also share their life story which shows how amazing and strong they all are in their own different way. Rose being the eldest is also described as being the funniest character and also having a great deal of wisdom in fly fishing and life in general. For all the women fly fishing is just a fun sport but as the reader, one gets to see how it has impacted their lives especially Amanda. When her husband is deploid to Afghanistan, she finds herself feeling lonely. She uses the knowledge of fly making as a way of coping with the loneliness she sometimes experiences while Missing her husband. For her fly fishing is a coping sport. She also gets to relax from her busy scheduled life, from being a teacher to a mother to a household cleaner. She gets to spend time with the most spectacular women who are very kind to her and are always ready to help. They each have a break from their day to day chaotic life style. The women enjoy this sport more with Rose's encouragement patches which makes them feel like girl scouts each time they get one for catching a fish.

The book is a fantastic read filled with humour, drama, romance, suspense and flashbacks. Through this flashbacks one gets to understand each woman more and their courses. I enjoyed reading this book that I was blinded from finding any errors. As each woman learnt the process of fly fishing I was tagged along. I learned a lot about fly fishing which by any case I wouldn't have. I'll confess I did not know what fly fishing was until I read, The Reel Sisters. There was nothing to dislike about the book from my part. I award the book a 4 out of 4 stars for the above reason. It was a great learning spree filled with adventure and humour along the way for me. I would recommend it to older teens and anyone interested in drama, romance, suspense and humour. I would also advise those who might be offended by any amount of profanity to stay away from this book. It contains a few cussing words which may be abit inappropriate to those sensitive towards this.

This is an entertaining read no one ought to miss it!
