We are Voulhire:A New Arrival under Great Skies is a sci-fi and fantasy book by Matthew Tysz and the first installment in a nine book series called 'We are Voulhire'.
The book follows among many characters, Galen, a refugee from a wore torn country who flees his homeland to find some peace in a foreign country known as Voulhire.

Voulhire is a seemingly peaceful and prosperous which is just about to enter it's golden age with a population of deeply religious, very focused, innovative and hardworking people.
Well everything seems like so, especially when you look at it from the surface.
Underneath this facade of a safe haven are forces trying to tear it apart from all sides.
The kingdom is up against very powerful forces in the form of incredibly unmatchable mages and defiant rebels who have a history of tension with the kingdom, and not to mention selfish characters who threaten to weaken the kingdom from within itself.

What stands out about this book the most is how innovative the author's ideas for his world were for example his use of mages isn't something you quite see a lot. It features very interesting concepts of religions and cosmology among many other things. It will had me glued from the prologue until the very last page because of how evenly paced it is and just how witty the dialogue is.
It has some of the smoothest interactions between characters I've seen in any I've read book so far, for example you can tell how much of a laid-back and friendly person a character named Lord Eldus Alderman is just from his first few dialogues as he and his family journey to Hillport. A big kudos to the author for that.

One of the few, if not the only thing I dislike about this first installment is how vague some of the descriptions were, I felt like some of the character and environment descriptions lacked the necessary depth for someone me to build a picture of them in my head, other than that I've got no qualms with the story.

I'm awarding this book a 4 out of 4 stars because if how solid the story telling and generally just how good it made me feel to read this. It's an amazing book and I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys escaping into made up worlds.
Any fan of the fantasy genre would surely gobble up this amazing piece of work, which if I think about it felt kind of short. Overall it's a good read and I can't wait to read and review the sequels.
