[rwc=id499893-125]4 out of 4 stars.[/rwc]“Can a man with various psychic disorders get back on the right foot?”, “Is peace of mind a reality or is it nonexistent?”, “Can I be happy again?”, “Can I come out of depression?”, “Can I become as productive as I should?”, “Am I too old to have a new vision?”

Anthony Jacob Braaten, a patient with numerous psychic disorders answers these questions in his book, Let’s Help You Self-Help. A very practical guide on how to overcome depression, anxiety, and the likes. Weaved with his experiences, the book prescribes a path to follow to attain true peace and happiness. This path is a skill set that contains twelve skills that can transform you from the person you are now to a better, more productive, and fulfilled you. It promotes balanced living and shows how these skills could be maximized . What skills are in the skill set and how can they culminate in transformation?

I, truly, love the way the author starts the book. He calls the readers his friends and assures them of the possibility of transformation. He is very empathetic towards the readers and I could feel the love he has for them on every page. The book made me see life with a lens clearer than before. It employed positive thinking techniques meshed carefully in a user-friendly template. The motion of the author’s train of thought was very unique.

I also loved the way the book portrayed character traits as skills that should be developed. The skills are so intertwined with each other that I call them ‘the skill of living’. In my own opinion, the book was written to enable the readers to develop a passion, and passion, if followed, leads to finding true lasting peace. I am quite impressed that a man who is not a monk or doctor of psychology could write such a book.

I didn’t find anything I disliked about the book. It was professionally edited with very minute errors in it. The errors were typos that didn’t disrupt my reading.

I give this book 4 out of 4 stars. The book is written in a very simple way which makes it easy to be understood. It is a very realistic book that provides a practical guide to learn about a particular person, you. It provides a balance to life. I recommend the book, first, to patients with psychic disorders and then, to anyone that seeks lasting happiness and peace. Truly, the book is self-help.
