After the City of Interstate was taken control of by the slaver Cattleplod, he gained dominance over the people. As a result of this, a couple of dynamics shifted in the working system of the people. The rangers who were once the hunters became the hunted, and the SIMO body of assassins lost its credibility amongst their employers.

The secrets of their world laid bare due to the discovery of new races of people by Interstate, Scholar and, Ashley. The rather seemingly complex relationship between these two went on, with their line of work carrying them on different adventures, one of which gave a significant boost in the hand of the people of Interstate during a war against one of the discovered new races.

Reading books written by Matthew Tysz always proves delightful because he knows how to capture the details of whatever story he is spinning. The vivid descriptions have a way of pulling you into the book, thereby making it a compelling read. The Sins of the Master Race followed a chronological pattern with a build-up from the beginning to the middle, then following a satisfying release at the end.

What I equally found interesting was the blend in of controversial topics such as transgender and homosexuality. Though I was caught off-guard by it, it wasn’t surprising since these topics seem to be the new order amongst almost every creative work of art. Having threesomes was broached in this book, though without explicit details. Readers who are sensitive to these topics might not find this book their cup of tea.

As much as I enjoyed this book, the introduction of new characters at every turn made it a chore to keep up with the story. It would probably not pose as a problem for readers who, unlike me, started the series from the very first book.

I’ll rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. The issue of experiencing difficulty keeping up with the story (this was partly my fault for not starting from the first book) derailed my full enjoyment of the book. Despite this, I was able to carry on while reading the book because it contained a plotline intriguing enough to keep me going. This book was well-edited with hardly any error(s) and, it had a considerable use of profane words. Readers who are particularly interested in fantasy novels would find this an enjoyable read.
