Review by Kristina Louise -- Mysteries Of the First Instant
Almost everyone, at one time or another, has thought about the origin of our universe. Whether you embrace the Big Bang Theory, Creationism, or something in between, we’ve all wondered about that primal seed that sparked us into existence. Mysteries Of the First Instant by Daniel Friedmann explains not only the first instant of creation but also sheds some light on the “nothingness” that everything in our current existence evolved from, what was going on before the Big Bang so to speak.
This book was fascinating from start to finish! The connections the author made between the scriptures, quantum, and classical physics, and the laws of nature are nothing short of astounding. He solves an age-old mystery using the Kabbalistic diagram which contains cryptic information in the letters that not only confirm but also challenge some of what science has tried to prove up until now. Daniel Friedmann bridges the gap between science and scriptures as he explains his discoveries to his young nephew while on a surfing trip in Carlsbad California. I really like this approach because it makes the content easy to understand for virtually anybody, For instance, he can explain why physicists are having difficulties coming up with laws and parameters that work with both the micro and macro elements in our universe. It led me to a pretty deep and profound understanding of many things that didn't make sense up until now.
There isn't much I didn't like about this book, it was well written, well researched, and professionally edited. The one thing that may be difficult for readers is the concept of a primordial force, being, or entity whose existence can’t be explained by the Scientific Method, meaning something you can’t see or measure or manipulate. I am fine with this because as an individual I always felt as though Science, specifically physics is very limiting as far as research goes because their system of acquiring, studying, and evaluating information from our natural surroundings does not include the higher spiritual or unseen forces that obviously exist around us.
I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It was like I was reading a historical detective novel with all the allure and suspense that comes with finding meaningful and factual answers. I also gave this rating because the author was very thorough as far as providing an extensive glossary, resources, references, and endnotes. I think this is important when it comes to providing a back-story behind his findings which some may think a little off cue, especially the scientific-minded.
This non-fiction book would appeal to almost any adult reader. I say adult reader only because it’s easier to understand if you have some idea about what physicists and scientists have. speculated up until now. For younger readers, the extensive glossary can be very helpful and there is absolutely no profanity or sexual content whatsoever. Daniel Friedman uses the Hebrew scriptures as a basis for his findings, but this is in no way a book written for an audience of a particular religious sect, it is a book for everyone with a powerful message. The author has managed to interpret his findings in a way that will hopefully, one day, make scientists reevaluate their methods and align with the Authors approach; after all, we are still using the Scientific Method established more than 400 years ago by Philosopher Sir Francic Bacon. I really enjoyed this book and I’ll be on the lookout for more from Daniel Friedman.
