Review by Luluwa79 -- Peter and the Parachute
Peter and the parachute by Nicola Ridgeway and James Manning is a story about a three-month-old eagle that had just lost all his fluffy, white feathers and now has shiny and brown golden specks. He was afraid of falling, which made him wore a parachute to save himself. His mom told him to fly that the nest is not for him again, but for little hatchlings. However, he was confident that he could not fly, without falling. While in the nest, he spoke with some of his parent's relations, and each told him their own story behind flying. He believed their story, and that helped him, but he was still afraid of flying. He was thinking of what to do when a strong gust of wind took him by surprise, and he lost his footing. Will he fly? Will his parachute save him?
Peter and the Parachute is a story that teaches us how to overcome our fears, and all it takes is just a little confidence in ourselves. We become stronger, and our self-confidence grows when we work on our self-esteem. Even though parent assured him of not falling, he was still afraid of falling. He thought the parachute would save him; however, he lost it and braced himself for falling. All it took him to fly was a flap of his wings, and he became the strongest because his survival instinct kicked in, and he believed he could do it.
I enjoyed every part of the story, and there was nothing to dislike in the story. The story was written in simple words that will make children understand the story well. The illustrations were very vivid and colorful. I did not notice any grammatical or typographical errors, profane words, or sexual scenes. The book was exceptionally written, and professionally edited.
I would recommend this book to readers of all ages because it's an interesting, and engaging book. It's such a short story of 32 pages with a moral lesson. I finished reading the book in less than an hour, and I would love to read it with my younger ones.
I would love to give the book 4 out of 4 stars. I would also like to commend the author for putting this together.
