The first twelve chapters of King Here by Trish Porter Topmiller are disjointed, jumpy, and seemingly unconnected. Continue on and you will begin to understand that the author is painting a picture of her father, Chuck King, for the reader. I believe she wants to help you understand that although he was honest, generous and trustworthy - a good guy, he still would not make it to heaven. Only acceptance of Jesus Christ as his Savior would get him there. Along with many other people, she spent thirty-five years praying for her father's salvation. What seemed impossible to her was NOT impossible for God.

No matter how we mess up the pieces or how long it takes us to really see Him, God's grace is sufficient and He will bring about beauty for our ashes. Hindsight being 20/20, we always wish we had done differently. This being said, the author gave her dad the best gift ever. Better that private jet rides, unlimited candy for children, gold metals, fancy condos, any material possession we could dream up. She prayed and searched for God's timing for her dad's conversion. She was instrumental in guiding the people he needed to help bring him everlasting life through Jesus Christ. What an awesome gift!! She should have no regrets.

In the last half of the book she takes us through the many tragedies of Chuck King's life. Being a risk taker in the world of big business, the start of the spiral downward was the loss of the majority of his wealth. He not only loses the wealth but also his health and then come losses of family members. It tends to put the reader to thinking about Job from the Old Testament. If those disasters were not enough, add the addictions he had and it seems to be the recipe for disaster - except for God.

At the end, Topmiller uses the opportunity she has gained with her audience to outline the way to salvation for those readers who have not come to a knowledge of Jesus Christ. A true soul winner she lays out the Roman Road to salvation and she also teaches how to be prepared to win lost souls for Christ by: Praying for them, being intentional, being watchful, walking through doors He opens, having an attitude of love, being bold and then closing the deal. She teaches that you are never too...anything to accept Jesus and then share the Good News.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 only because the first half was so disconnected for the reader, which was my only dislike. She pulls it all together in the end though. It is well edited with few typos. I totally love the way she uses the opportunity to share the Good News. There is no profanity or sexual content. I am sure it was cathartic for her to write and such a tribute to her father. A true treasure for future Kings!
