Heat is the second book in H.M. Irwing Bad Boy Vibes Series. The book opens with a fight between Rafe and Eric Dayton as Anna confronts her abuser Matt Preston. The couple rely on one another to work past the violent sexual assaults they have endured and the psychological damage they face. Finding love and conquering demons of the past is what the two main characters in this book represent. The turmoil of the book doesn’t end there, Bella, Rafe’s aunt invites Anna and Rafe for dinner only to introduce Peter Preston as her fiancé and father to her unborn child.

I liked how in the book Heat by H.M. Irwing the author sculpted the characters while keeping the plot of the novel very interesting. Despite being labelled as a romance novel the author adds a lot of internal conflict that give the book the needed plot twists that keep the reader interested. The narration is done from the views of each character, this makes the reader understand the character’s feelings and emotions better. The events of the book are well detailed; I commend the author on the exceptional writing.

In my opinion the book Heat by H.M. Irwing is not a stand-alone book and thus to completely comprehend the storyline I recommend reading the Bad Boy Vibes series in order. I didn’t like how the first few chapters of the book were rushed, had I not read the prequel I wouldn’t have had a clue who the characters were or what their backstory was. The suspense definitely builds as the book progresses. It is my deduction that the book should be only read by mature adults due to the sexual scenes contained herein. The book contains profanity and several erotic scenes that may offend some readers.

This is more than the usual average romance where everything is a bed of roses and the book ends in “happy ever after”. In the book Heat by H.M. Irwing issues such as rape, homosexuality and sadistic revenge are addressed, this is a reflection on real world issues that affect people and their relationships in reality, that was a plus for me. The ending was perfectly written and left me wanting more, can love actually win despite all odds? I will definitely purchase the next book to find out. I commend the author and their team for the amazing work of literary art. I am looking forward to reading more work from H.M. Irwing.

I rate the book 3 out of 4
