When you enter a world of beauty and wonder you may feel like you are in a dream. You don’t know why you are there and what it all means, but something will stir inside your soul. If you are chosen and can make it through your training, this will be a world you can return to for the rest of your life. People are drawn to you in the world in which you have come from, the Slip World. They don’t know what it is about you that is so great but you do, you have Mana, and that makes you a Manasakd.

Manasakd was a fantastic book of creativity by author Kelly May Andrews. She brings us a world that peaks our curiosity and is filled with awe and majesty. The reader is taken on a journey through the land with Tali, a newcomer who is said to be a legend. She travels to the lands of some of the classes. The classes include Mystics, Storms, Empaths, Visionaries, Healers, Dreamers and Intellects. For the areas she visits, she encounters other Manasakd who give her more information about themselves and the world.

Tali’s journey of exploration is a bit unusual. Normally you meet your mentor on your first visit to the land and they teach you what you need to know about the land as well as the class to which you belong. Tali, however, has met quite a few people who all believe she is their's to mentor. This causes a great confusion and a bit of strife, as several people would love the honor of mentoring a legend. Tali experiences many exciting and scary things on her excursion, such as new powers and vicious creatures. She is delighted when the head of the land asks her to join the land and to fill her new role as a Manasakd.

Unfortunately I would rate this book 3 out of 4 stars because of the number of errors I found. If these had not been there, it would have been a strong 4. I would recommend this book to teenagers and older. There was a small amount of language that would make me hesitate to allow younger readers to engage in it.

What I liked most about this book is that it was fast paced and intriguing the entire way through. I did not want to put the book down and was excited to know what would happen next. I loved how the author shaped the world and characters. Even though each class was so unique from the others, the reader could see how they all needed one another. I thought the story was innovative and engaging. The thing I disliked most about this book was that it ended. I wanted to keep reading and learning about the people and places described. I wanted to know what they would all do next. I hope there are many more books to come in this series.
