"To be kind and caring is to be weak." Says the Merqueen. The Fisherman And His Foundlings is a children's book by Phillip Leighton-Daly. In the book, readers are introduced to an old man named, Peter, who helps orphans and people at the leper colony. However, the book gave readers a glimpse of the sad demise of Peter's wife. Even after the sad demise of his wife, he continually kept dedicating his time, effort, and hard work to help orphans and people in the leper colony.

Furthermore, Peter was thrust into a fight for survival as he sees and felt some empathy for a merchild. He was oblivious to the fact that it was a trap that had been set up by the wicked Merqueen just to capture him. What would be the fate of old Peter? Only one way to find out, hop in as the book unveils the full story.

The premise of this book is undoubtedly interesting and also educating. I particularly liked the resplendent nature of the book, it was quite colorful. I loved it! Furthermore, I found the book to be concise and intriguing even if it was just 44 pages.

I must also note that the book was in no way boring. To be honest my only dislike in the book were the words the author used. They were sort of hard to figure out, they were irregular, and almost every sentence navigates me to a close-by dictionary. And it's good to recall that the targeted audience and the potential readers of this book would be mostly children between the ages of 5 and 12.

It was exhausting having to check the meaning of words so frequently while reading the book. It could decrease the book's readability and enjoyment. This book surely deserves a perfect rating due to the context and the moral lessons it emphasized, especially on the aspect of being kind, loving, and caring.

Hence, I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. The reason for my rating was due to the aforementioned fact of my dislike. If only the book got better on that aspect I'd loved it more, because that was the only thing I found daunting. And of course, it was an educating, awesome, and concise children's book. I observed that the book was professionally edited since I didn't notice any grammatical errors. I will further recommend this book to children between the ages of 5-12
