Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi is another enjoyable and educative installment in the book series involving cat detective extraordinaire, Inca, and her band of witty furry friends.

Inca is a Siberian breed cat that lives in England with her furry siblings, friends, and her French ‘humanoid’ mother. Inca is no ordinary cat; she is also a detective! Along with her furry friends, she runs her own successful detective agency. The agency is steadily gaining popularity across the country. ‘Humanoids’ are what the pets refer to humans as. What I find very amusing is that none of these humanoids seem aware of their pets’ secret lives.

Inca’s mother has taken her pets on holiday to Sri Lanka. This is the backdrop of this little book’s story. However, a little while after the family lands, they learn that the local museum is missing a national treasure. This is a case that Inca and friends must solve. The case leads Inca into a Sri Lankan jungle that she has never traversed before. Whatever will happen to Inca? Will the gang solve the mystery of the missing treasure?

In true R.F. Kristi fashion, the book is very educational without losing its child-appropriate entertainment value. The author masterfully presents real-world geopolitical topics that expand children’s worldviews and have meaningful lessons. UNESCO world heritage sites, treaties, descriptions of beautiful Sri Lankan landscapes, and so on are presented. The book is full of whimsical illustrations and engaging dialogue. The style and structure of the book are such that it seems we are reading from Inca’s journal. This was nice.

The book was short and sweet. It is also professionally written, without any noticeable errors. I enjoyed the book and I am certain kids will love it and learn something from it too. The book is targeted at children with ages ranging from seven to twelve. I could not find anything wrong with it. I gladly give Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi 4 out of 4 stars.
