This children's book is entitled What's your favorite color? by Amber L. Lassiter. The story enfolds in a classroom with students no more than 8 years of age. Their teacher instructed them to do an activity involving painting a picture using their favourite colour, where they would wear their favourite colour on a piece of clothing and they would only reveal that colour when they have completed their assignment.

This book is intriguing because the reader is on edge, trying to decipher Amber's favourite colour. It resonates with me because when I was 8 years old, I also enjoyed painting and it would have challenged my intellect in trying to solve this mystery. I also looked forward to each sentence, drawing substance from the words and trying to solve this riddle of sorts.

I particularly enjoyed this book because it was realistic. Usually in a classroom setting, there is always a student who does not have some of the required supplies, there is a student who can adapt to their environment and there is a student who is 'different' or exceptional and positively proves that there is no one solution as they exploit different possibilities.

This book showed how creative teachers can be in their approach to teaching, where the teacher asked each student to dress in their favorite color to sustain interest in the lesson.

Throughout this story, the words were very descriptive and captivating. The illustrations were precise and matched the facial expressions described by the words.

However, although I was fond of this children's book, there were two aspects that hindered my enjoyment. Firstly, there was a punctuation error on the banner in the classroom on page 8.

Secondly, in terms of the layout of questions, each question could have been written on a separate line. This would have made it more user-friendly for 8-year-old students, who are becoming more acquainted with developing their critical-thinking and analytical skills.

Nevertheless, my enthusiasm was peaked in trying to determine Amber's favorite color. This sustained my interest throughout the whole book, as I was initially unable to figure it out.

This book can be used for school-aged 8-year-old students, as it contains comprehension questions which can help develop their analytical and critical-thinking skills.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed this children’s book, I would give this book 3 out of 4 stars, due to the punctuation error on the banner and the layout of the questions accompanying the story.
