The mysteries of Nekkid Lake by Noah Bond spark your interest at the very beginning of the book. The suspense and questions only leave you wanting more and searching for answers. As the book progresses you join Tess, Deputy Lucas, Lucy, Patty and Sheriff Roy as they uncover the cold case that has haunted the small town of Cobbler’s Knob for years. They work together facing danger and the risk of death to bring closure and justice to the small community still living in grief. Little do they know who they are up against in their quest.

Tess, a college student studying forensic science, comes to Cobbler’s Knob, Vermont, for her internship and gets the case of a lifetime given to her to keep her busy. She uncovers the most astonishing information about the case of the county and proceeds to work the case until it is solved. She comes to love the little community and the friends she makes there. She unlocks long kept secrets. She unveils the most shocking of enemies.

I really enjoyed the format showing times and date and locations at the beginning of each chapter as if you were working the case with Tess the whole time. It brings you into the story more and only develops the intrigue. I enjoyed the conversational, intellectual banter between Tess, Patty and Lucy as you can tell they got along well and were essentially kindred spirits. I disliked that lack of information about the enemy. I would have liked to see more content on why they were involved in the first place. It felt as if some background information was missing there.

I rate this book 3 out of 4. This book was very clean. I encountered one cuss word and there was no sexually explicit content. I would recommend this book for teens as well as adults. Even some young adults would enjoy this one. Overall, it was a very clean and family friendly book to read. I feel the book was well edited and put together. I did not find any typing errors as I read through it. I felt it was well thought out and the format, conversations and timeline of the story were done correctly and thoroughly.

I hope to see more from this author soon as he has talent and a vivid imagination in his ability to create a cryptic and stunning story to captivate readers. This book is a great balance of science and myth as you unravel the plot along with all the characters.
