How to be Successful: Think like a Leader by M. Curtis McCoy is very inspirational for people who need advice on success in life. He starts the book off talking about his battle with a brain tumor. He never gave up on life even though doctors only gave him up to 90 days to live. Throughout the book McCoy provides incite to what it means to become successful, from other people who are successful in life through interview questions. Every person have their own set of standards for success from spiritual success, too financial success. Each person comes from a different walk of life, and each person is asked the same set of questions.

After each person's interview McCoy provides advice for success. The advice he provides can help anyone became successful in any aspect of their life. He provides advice on how staying humble can help you be successful, they way you dress, the importance of relationships, and so on. For example he had to stay in is mobile phone store, Best Cellular, while he built it up from the bottom up, in order for it to strive. During this time the one thing he did was made sure he his employees were appreciated, and customers were given the best customer service.

Some parts of the book I reread several times, because some of the advice I never considered applying to becoming successful. One person responded to a question with this, he doesn’t sleep at night because he does not know how to turn his brain off.Because, he is a problem solver, and that no matter what, to every problem there is ALWAYS A SOLUTION! To be honest, I yelled "SAY THAT WOO!!!" And my oldest child thought something was wrong with me. Now, that phrase is on repeat in my head. Caujuan Mayo, and The father of the MP3 player, Nathan M. Scholhof were my two favorite interviews. I liked the inclusion of Caujuan Mayo because when I usually come across books like this, people with a background like his is never mentioned. Caujuan Mayo represents people I grew up with, and to see someone with a background like his make it, is a reminder anyone can succeed in life no matter what. Nathan M. Scholhof interview is an eye opener. He became successful at such a young age.

The book is very humble, and relatable for anyone who may decide to read it. There is nothing bad about the book. A person's views on success could be the only reason this book can provide bad advice. McCoy covers ways to be successful from ALL avenues. from religious advice to what not to do in life. The people in his interviews cover so many ways to be successful in life. Some people started off as an average person, some started off as someone who did not have to work as hard as others for their success or during their path to success, and so on. His tone of the book suggests, if I can be successful in life, so can you. There are hardly any negative suggestions, responses, or stories that would make someone think negatively about this book.

If you want to find some advice on success, you will in this book, for sure. If there was anything negative about this book, it would simply be my disagreement on the constant reward system he touches bases on. I believe in someone rewarding themselves on their accomplishments, but I do not agree with the rewards being so frequent throughout. This is only my view on rewarding one self during their path to success. So many other people can benefit from his advice. I give this book a 4 out of 4 stars. The style of the book, the tone of the book, and the amount of advice in the book will definitely help anyone to become successful in life. The book can be read by teenagers and adults from all walks of life.
