We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is an amazing piece of the story that introduces the birth of a new world, as well as the beginning of a struggle for the inheritance, is the whole Kingdom. It begins with the story of a great king who had to divide his kingdom as he sought for peace amongst his sons after he’s gone. A young man, Galen, travels to learn a trade from his uncle who willed all he had to him. As the pressure of siege and invasion begins to rise, Galen gets to prove himself as an excellent craftsman. Was he able to achieve his quest?

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a beautiful fiction story. The plot and setting of the book were impressive. It is the first of the We are Voulhire series. I loved how Tysz was able to develop the characters in the story so well that I was able to connect to the different characters. He had a special skill in managing different characters and their viewpoints. He also narrates the story in a manner that keeps the reader in flow with the book. Tysz had great writing skill as well. The magic and suspense in the story added some spice to it.

Despite the fact that this was a wonderful piece, there are still some aspects I didn’t like about the book. The start was quite slow and a bit boring. It could have been because of the fact that the writer was still trying to introduce the story. I also got to notice that there weren’t many female characters in the story. It was still lovely though but I think the balance would have been amazing.
Another thing was whilst the book was written in the third person narrative, Galen’s character was written in the first person. It was an adopted style of writing but I felt it was quite distracting at some point.

I would give We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies a rating of 3 out of 4 stars. I would also have to recommend this book to young adults because of the level of profanity. There were no erotic scenes though, just a few hinting; romance lovers might not really like this one.
Generally, I think the author did a beautiful work of professionally editing the book. Definitely waiting for the next book.
