John Thurgood Thomas (JT) takes shelter in a cave that accommodates objects and clues of past occupants. The rain is massive, and all JT can do is sit back, staring at a dead man’s body lying on a bed. The storm subsides, and JT sees three women tied to a wagon. These women seem to be traveling with four armed men. One of the three women (Dawn) slips and falls to the ground. One of the men tries to kill Dawn, but JT stops him by pulling the trigger first. JT shoots and kills a second man. Having found a worthy opposition in JT, the other men ran away. As JT approaches the women, he finds out that there are four women. He introduces himself to Dawn, Annabelle, Jean, and Erica. JT sees that Dawn is seriously injured. He suggests they travel to the nearest town (Point Stevens Pass) to find a hospital and a boarding house.

JT senses some secrecy among the women, but he is naive of the circumstances that led these women to the place where he had found them. Dawn gets medical attention, and as soon as she regains consciousness, she uncovers the story of her capture. JT now understands that Jean is a member of a gang of bank robbers and murderers, and her brother is the leader. JT and Annabelle embark on a thrilling adventure to catch up with this notorious gang.

Rescued: JT Thomas Book 1 by E. Alan Fleischauer is an action-packed Western novel. It is the first book of its series, but the author didn't hesitate to turn up the action right from the first chapter. The narrative of the book was from a third-person point of view. The plot took place during the Old West, and it gave the audience a clear picture of what it was like back then. The book portrayed guns, horses, hostility, pain, uncivilized mentality, suspense, robbery, deception as well as bravery.

I liked that the author paid attention to details. He was brilliant in describing the various landmarks and their historical tales, but he made his explanations moderate enough to keep the read flowing. I also liked that the women were hesitant about trusting JT. It went a long way to show how much trouble they’d passed through before they met JT. I was happy that JT stood up for justice, even in a time where people would instead look away just to avoid trouble.

Rescued: JT Thomas Book 1 by E. Alan Fleischauer is an exceptionally well-edited book. I didn't find any grammar errors or typos. The description was as precise as I expected it to be, and the characters were strong. I'm rating this book a deserving four out of four stars for its excellent portrayal of the Western setting.

I would recommend this book for lovers of Western stories. I would also recommend this book for adults who wouldn't mind a throwback tale of the Old West. On the other hand, this book might not be suitable for children as it portrays violence and stubborn characters.

I liked your points about how realistic the characters were. Women who've experienced what Erica, Dawn, and Annabelle did wouldn't be so quick to trust!

This book seems to portray the Old West and the demographic decay of its towns and villages. I hope I get the chance to read this soon.
