Oh my goodness! One Way or Another by Mary J. Williams left me speechless! Talking about a love story so uniquely woven together to bring excitement, joy, desire, and anticipation! I absolutely loved this story! Perfect reading to distract from the current quarantine (stay-at-home) COVID-19 world situation. I immediately downloaded the second book in the “The Sisters Quartet” series.

As a big fan of Contemporary Romance and Romantic Suspense, I have discovered a new favorite author in this genre in Mary J. Williams. I look forward to reading many more of her books. If you are a Romance fan, you must read this book! I rate this book four out of four stars!

One Way or Another is a delightful novel centered around the strong bond of four sisters who were born into wealth. The Benedict Sisters! They live in modern day Manhattan in the luxurious mansion purchased by their Grandfather in the 19th Century, the Gilded Age. All single and not really looking for love, because falling in love is risky business. Oh yes! Especially when you are not sure if the love is directed at you or your money! A whimsical mother (married too many times I lost count) also left the girls with emotional scars where romance was concerned. And a rather misogynistic Grandfather who never sired any sons and left a stipulation in his will that the girls only receive full access to their hefty inheritance when they married or turned 30 years old. AND only a male could inherit the house and the bulk of the Benedict money.

The story starts and ends with all the narrative suspense and tension that keeps you reading and turning the pages. This book centered around Calder and Adam. I visualized Adam as Matthew McConaughey (that smile and dimple) and Calder as Kate Hudson (with brown hair) just like in the movie “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.” What a romance Calder and Adam shared! The perfect match, so it seemed. The tension in Chapter 26 was intense. I hoped it was just a misunderstanding! Please don’t jump to Chapter 26! By the way, I liked Chapter 26 the most! I don’t want you to miss out and give too much away! This is a fantastic story! My heart!

If there was something that I disliked most about this book it would be that Calder and Adam were going at it (sex) every chance they got! There were some sensual scenes, but I would not call it explicit eroticism. I almost picked up my phone but remembered “I’m not dating anyone!” And for those who are a little bit kakologophobic (kakos meaning bad and logos meaning word) there is some expletive language in some of the dialog. Yet, the book is very much worth the read! Very well written and edited! Bravo!
