Fate Line features handwriting analysis expert and Holocaust survivor Jacob Bruno, who is in the midst of working on multiple cases. He provides his unique skill set in graphology on multi-million dollar fraud cases both on and off the stand as an expert witness. When the sudden disappearance of beloved 9 year-old figure skater Jay Jay Martin rocks the people of Bountiful, Utah, Jacob Bruno is called upon to determine if the handwriting in the ransom note is a match for her very own father.

Rudy Styne is an investigative reporter who goes above and beyond to track every possible lead and follow every angle in the quest for the truth. After Jay Jay Martins abrupt disappearance, he finds himself crossing paths with not only Jacob Bruno, but a palm reader and astrologist as well. Delving into the dark world of polygamy, Rudy finds himself caught up in multiple cases, lots of intrigue, and the potential darkness of the human spirit. All of this leaves him with a wariness of whom he should trust. Will Rudy Styne finally land his article on the front-page news?

What I liked most about this book was that it seemed to get better and better with each passing chapter, it was full of interesting twists and turns, and it had a lot of unique information woven into the plot. I loved learning about palmistry, graphology, and even a little about the dark world of polygamy. Overall, the book kept me intrigued and interested. I also liked all of the different characters and the way that author Marc J. Seifer webbed multiple plot lines together, while maintaining the integrity of those characters.

What I disliked most about the book was the lack of top-notch professional editing. This particular author has written multiple books, so one would expect the best possible editing. I also disliked the unnecessary death at the end of the book and its subsequent lack of closure. I felt like the ending of the book was a bit abrupt and had a higher level of foul language than was present throughput the remainder of the book.

I would recommend this book to any adult who likes learning new things and who can get past the topic of polygamy and incest (it was touched on within the book but it was very minor). If you are someone who is forgiving of editing mistakes and doesn’t shy away from a dose of foul language here and there, then this book may be for you. I would rate this book 3 out of 4 stars.
