Metaphase: Beauty in the Chaos is the second book in the Mitosis Series. It continues the story of Piper Walker as she is trying to fit into her place in a new world in her role as Guardian princess since her mother's death. Through the ups and downs of learning and mastering her new abilities, Piper and her allies are trying to come up with a plan to dethrone her tyrant brother, Eli. By bringing unity among the races, she has the power to set right everything that her brother has done wrong. With her true love, Dev by her side, Piper embraces her powers and fights to restore order to the mature world. But this is increasingly difficult due to the fact that the more powerful she gets, the more she stands out and is easily found by her evil brother and his cult following.

This book was edited well with drastically fewer typos than the first book contained. There were still more typos than I expected to see, so I would recommend that the author uses a different editor from now on.

The story was well written and described with so many vivid details that the reader had no problem picturing the scenes. I really loved how descriptive M. Street was with all of his characters. They were all so different and original. He really gave thought to every race making all of them so unique with each one having their own characteristics and personality. To be able to create such a magical world takes an impressive imagination. He also did a great job of keeping you reading and wanting more.

The only thing I didn't care for was that there were times when the story seemed a little slow, lagging on. This is common with second books in a series, but it is still disappointing when you come across it. But the storyline, with all its twists, turns, and suspense definitely made up for it.

I give Metaphase: Beauty in the Chaos a rating of 3 out of 4 stars. I would have gladly given 4 stars but there were more typos than I like to see in a professionally edited book. The story was great and thought out, and I really enjoyed it. There also wasn't anything inappropriate for younger ages in this book so it is suited for any age. M. Street is a talented author. I know that personally, I will look for more of his work. This is definitely a series I would recommend. I look forward to delving into the next book!
