Containment breach by WM. A. Yandell is a sci-fi, thriller novel. I picked this book because I hadn’t read a sci-fi in a long time and yearned for one.

The book is about a new life form – the creatures – created by a scientist named Zayack. Overtime, these highly intelligent creatures tend to turn violent and aggressive towards humans and according to them 'killing of all the humans must be done'.

Meanwhile, a group of scientists is called upon to find a solution before these creatures escape and destroy mankind. But keeping in mind the differences they are facing among themselves, would they ever deem successful in their mission and will the existence of these creatures ever wipe out? Most importantly, is the wiping out of these creatures the only possible solution left?

I really savoured the suspense infused in the novel. It rendered engaging as it gave space to the reader to guess and predict the aftermaths. The ending lines of every other chapter compelled me to swipe my screen further and read just one more in search of an answer to the many mysteries in the novel.

I liked how the characters were build and most of all, I liked the story itself. It seemed natural and real as to evoke emotions in the reader. How the writer linked together the different events in the novel and how all the mysteries unfolded was also something commendable; though halfway through the novel, I had already predicted the ending.

The technical terms used as well as the complex scientific explanations made me read the text twice, but that was okay.

The narrative was switching from third to first person, from first to third person and so on which was alright until the change occurred within a single chapter which made it confusing (but not so much).

I didn’t like the ending for one reason that is many events were left unresolved or else unclear by the end. There were only a couple of typos in the book and thus, I assume it’s professionally edited.

Keeping in mind all of the (plus and minus) points, I am rating the book 3 out of 4 stars because it was truly fascinating and I enjoyed it, but it didn’t give a proper resolution to all the incidents discussed.

The book is a good recommendation for anyone who relishes thriller and sci-fi novels.
