Review by OfficialEmma -- Ripcord Recovery by T.T. Sawyer
Sawyer is an addiction counselor. But somehow, he becomes a chronic alcoholic and drug addict. He is addicted to anything that can make him high — alcohol, heroin, cocaine, etc. This addiction costs him his family, the university honors program, his job, and a great percentage of his life. How did an addiction counselor become an addict himself?“The power of the human spirit flows deep and strong guiding us on the adventure of a lifetime.”
— T.T. Sawyer
At 47, Sawyer takes a variety of medicines prescribed by different doctors, but none of the medicines is effective. Out of frustration, Sawyer rejects all prescribed drugs from his doctors and treads on a strange path to salvation. Will he find redemption or end up in a worse state?
Ripcord Recovery by T.T. Sawyer is a “message in a bottle for addicts caught in the relapse death spiral.” ‘T.T. Sawyer’ is the pseudonym of the author. This book is a memoir that follows the author’s struggles with alcohol and drug addiction and his method for dealing with chronic addiction as a last resort. This book is tagged as an anecdotal treatise because the story told is about a real person, and the book center’s on a particular subject matter — resolving chronic addiction by using medical marijuana.
The book was well-presented. I didn’t find any negative. There is nothing I dislike about the book. What I liked most were the guidelines and cautions which Sawyer provided for those who might consider his method. I also liked his combination of medical marijuana and meditation exercise. I recommend this book to addicts struggling to overcome, but as a last resort.
The book was professionally edited. I noticed only five typographical errors — an unnecessary apostrophe, a capitalization error, wrong spelling, missing word, and missing comma. However, these errors do not detract from the engaging read. The writing style was narrative and expository. The pace was well-developed. The book was also engaging. The story ended well with a good report. Hence, I give Sawyer’s Ripcord Recovery a 4 out of 4 stars rating.
T.T. Sawyer's method might not appeal to many people, but it worked for him, and it could work for many others. This method of medical marijuana use is not FDA approved. Hence, Sawyer recommends using this method as a last resort. That is when all other methods have failed. Since its publication in 2018, this book has won several awards, among which are the 2018 Human Relations Indie Book Award and the 2018 Human Relations Addiction Awareness Book of the Year Award.
