Opaque by Calix Leigh-Reign was an exceptional read where the only thing I disliked was the demise of some of my favorite characters. Overall, it was a great book with plenty of action, romance, and mystery. I loved how the author was able to genuinely capture the teenage awkwardness and reality of how they feel on a daily basis.

In this book the main characters Adam and Carly, not only struggle with the normal teenage high school and home challenges but they are forced to grow up quickly due to their genetic design. Their relationship is another factor they have to include in every decision. Though their relationship seems intense for teenagers, the author describes how their abilities make the connection stronger. Adam is a loner and an outsider when it comes to school and he has an awkward home life as well. Carly is an outgoing smart girl who seems to have everything figured out at her young age. Just as it is said opposites attract it is intriguing to watch their relationship change each of them for the better.

Opaque was exceptionally well edited which made it an easy read. This shows how much effort was put into this to not only make it a great story but also a professional edited, easy read. The story line was thoroughly thought out and executed well. With the plot and events that happened throughout the entire book it was very enjoyable. Therefore, I give this book a 4 out of 4 stars.

The main audience for this book would be the younger generation, mainly teenagers. I am not a teenager but still found this book addicting but if you find it hard to relate to the younger generation this may not be the book for you. There is still plenty going on to keep just about anyone entertained. The action and suspense in this book is constant which made it really hard to ever find a stopping spot because you are always wanting to know what happens next. The romance was very mild but appropriate for the targeted audience. The mystery is decent but at the end of the book there are questions that go unanswered but that is to be expected because it is part of a series.

I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves to read and is younger or older and likes to go back to their younger days. It is a great read with interesting concepts that make you think about the reality around you. Then again it may not be for everyone. Honestly it reminds me of The Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer and I loved that series. Therefore, anyone who enjoyed that series would also enjoy this one as well.
