One's childhood should be a time filled with happiness and laughter, untainted by depression or shame. Unfortunately for Ace Bowers, his childhood was filled with the fear of his friends finding out he was poor and the constant fighting of his parents. In The Mindset, Bowers starts by walking the reader through his troubled childhood. He goes on to talk about how in his early twenties, while overweight and working as a janitor making minimum wage, his life changed with one text from his girlfriend. By realizing he did not want his children to experience what he did, Bowers made adjustments to his mindset and transitioned into a successful businessman with a happy family.

The Mindset was an extremely quick read of an truly inspirational story. Bowers discusses how through his own determination and will power he broke the poverty cycle and underwent a shift in his mindset, giving him drive to become a millionaire and provide for his family. I liked how his story shows that no matter what challenges we face we have the ability in all of us to overcome what life throws at us. Rather than inheriting his wealth he achieved it through perseverance and hard work.

While this book is suited for almost anyone, I believe it is best for people who are struggling to overcome an obstacle in their life, whether that be trying to lose weight, quit smoking, or any number of situations. While not everyone will experience the same rough childhood that Ace had, many people will find themselves able to relate with the obstacles he faced such as working a minimum wage job trying to make ends meet, being overweight, or addicted to cigarettes. Bowers shows readers that even though you may feel helpless, only you can make the changes to improve your life if you are willing to adjust your mindset.

I found this book to have been professionally edited. There were no spelling or grammatical errors. The content is well written and flows together

Overall I would rate The Mindset by Ace Bowers 4 out of 4 stars. The book was inspirational and I couldn't put it down. Anyone who feels stuck in their current situation or who wants to learn about personal growth and transformation will enjoy this book. Bowers walks us through his troubled childhood and how at his lowest point in his early twenties, he decided to change his perspective in order to provide a better future for his children. He shows how with determination and hard work, anything is possible.
