Strong Heart by Charlie Sheldon is an action packed novel filled with native legends, adventure, and drama. The majority of the story takes place at Olympic National Park but it begins with a bit of family drama. Tom is planning on going on a camping trip to visit his grandfather's grave with his to native friends, William and his daughter Myra. Before he has a chance to even get started on his trip, his 13 year old granddaughter, Sarah, is dropped off on his doorstep. He ends up taking her with them as they hike but things don't go as planned. Sarah ends up disappearing for eight days. When she returns, she has quite the tale to tell.

This book is extremely well edited as I could find no grammatical errors. The plot has a good flow and captivates readers. At least, it captivated me. Although there isn't much background information on the characters, I fell in love with them almost immediately. The story changes between William and Sarah's point of view but it is so smooth I barely noticed a change at all.

I really enjoyed reading this book and would read it again. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I enjoyed the relationships the characters had with each other the most. Sarah's little quips and Tom's grumbling and uncertainty. It was realistic but also fun to read. The way the author described the interactions between the characters is what really helped me connect to them. Especially since there wasn't much of an introduction to them. I didn't mind, though, I enjoyed learning who they are through their mannerisms. The only thing I didn't particularly like was the ending. There was a lot that was left unsaid.

Honestly, I almost rated the book 3 out of 4 stars due to the ending. However, I found that it didn't bother me too much and the rest of the book is fantastic. The book ends with a lot left up to the reader's imagination. I didn't really like that but the ending was still beautiful and touching.

This book is probably for young adults with an interest in native legends. I find the history fascinating. There are quite a few curse words but not an offensive amount. The ideas are also quite mature so I don't believe a teen would be able to fully understand the meanings. That being said, I believe it is an amazing story and would highly recommend others to read it.
