Ambition (From Rags to Riches Book 2) by Val Grian is a 3 out of 4 stars review. This is a story about Alan and George and their ambition to make money, lots of money. George meets Mason when he gets car jacked. Mason owns a property development company who has a big project that he needs financial backing for. After George meets with Mason, he calls Alan and talks him into investing with Mason as well. A few weeks later, George notices no work being done at the construction site. When he calls Mason, he finds out that he has left the country and took their money with him. He calls up Alan who puts things in full force to find him. You will have to read to find out if their ambition got the better of them or will they find their thief.

I loved this book from the beginning. I was pulled in right from the start and I had a hard time putting this book down. The characters made the story feel realistic. They kept me turning pages and the story engaging. My favorite part of the book is when the cartel was brought into the story. The action picked up and brought a little more life to the story. Alan is a strong character that knows what he wants and how he can get it, not afraid. George is a little weaker character. He seems not to think things through before he acts. If he likes something, he goes for it but it doesn’t always work out for him. I like that both of these characters have been homeless only to build up their lives. The story is told from all the characters' perspectives which was easily understandable. This made it easy to connect with the characters.

I was pulled into this story right from the beginning. I thought there were a few spots that were slower than others throughout the story. I think they were necessary details to bring the story to a head. There is no romance in this book. It is a crime- suspense story that has some profanity in it. But it would not stop me from picking up this author’s books.

Overall, this is a great book that will keep you turning pages with no problem. It is a shorter book that could have been a little longer in parts with a few more details and action. The characters really did make the story for me. I would be interested in reading the previous book to get a little more information on them and where they come from. I did give it the rating I did because of the profanity. I found the story to be flawless in editing for errors which made the story easy to read.

This is a new author for me and I will be looking for more from him for sure. He has held many different types of positions which I think has helped with his writing this book. His knowledge on the subject was awesome and assisted with the book being enjoyable. He wrote this book with some humor and also heart. I loved this book and would highly recommend it.
