Review by AspenMarie2017 -- Murdered by James Schannep
The book MURDERED: Can YOU Solve the Mystery? by James Schannep was a fun easy read. MURDERED was well written and didn’t require a ton of concentration to follow along with the story. This book was different than any other I had read before because you are the main character in the book. When you read the book you really feel like you are in the story and having to navigate your way through to the end to catch the killer. Even though this is the second book in the Click Your Poison series, it is not necessary to read the books in order
The book is based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil during carnival. You are there with a group of your friends and you get separated from them and you happen to witness a murder. That is where your first choice comes up. One choice will lead you on the chase of catching the murderer while the other choice will lead to you being arrested and the killer getting away. Throughout the book you will make many different choices that will lead you down multiple different paths where you will work with different law enforcement departments in Rio. There are many different twists and turns, some of which are expected but many of which are unexpected.
I would give this book 3 out of 4 stars . The only reason that I would not give it 4 stars is because it can be hard to keep track of which option you have chosen before that may have led you down the wrong path. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would. the book was well written and was also very well edited. While reading the book and watching for grammar and/or spelling errors, I did not find any that stuck out to me.
I would recommend the book to adult readers. This book would be a good book for those that are looking for an easy read or just something to pass some time. When you start reading it, you will not want to put it down until you solve the case. When you run into a dead end it gives you even more motivation to start over solve the case.
What I liked most about this book was how easy it was to read while still being an interesting book. I also liked how you are the main character. It really makes it feel like you are in the book instead of just reading about a character going through an adventure. It is a different take on writing and, not something that you come across often. The only thing that I did not like about the book is that there is no way to mark options, in the book, you have already chosen. The best way to make your way through it is to have pen and paper next to you so you can keep track of where you are at and where you have been.
