Love & Lost: Thailand by Stella Knight, is a book about a woman named Savannah, who’s moved to Australia from USA where she’s married to Johnny. She works at a call centre for an insurance company and her husband works in real estate. Their life is relatively good but not as fulfilling as Savannah would like. Even though she’s grateful, she feels as though there is something missing, especially in her sex life. Her husband is a good, hardworking man but he makes her feel like she’s not his priority. Work comes first, his mum second and Savannah third. This frustrates her but she doesn’t confront Johnny to avoid arguments.
During a coffee break at work, she sees a poster of Thailand which inspires her to take a trip with her husband. To reconnect. To take a break. To rekindle their sex life. Her husband agrees and her close friend from work takes her shopping at a sex shop to help her spice things up.
In Thailand, they both have a chance to relax and have some fun. One night, Savannah dresses up in a sexy outfit to please her husband. Her husband doesn’t seem so enthused with her effort, much to Savannah’s disappointment. He reveals that his fantasy is to have a threesome. He wants her to have sex with another man!
She’s torn between two thoughts. The angel on one shoulder warns her that this might be something to be aware of, something that might lead to a separation. The devil on her other shoulder urges her to take a chance. To give it a go for just one night. What if this could save her marriage? Read the book and find out.
I have mixed feeling about this book. I can’t say I hated it nor did I love it. The story line did intrigued me and kept me in suspense. I was constantly expecting for something to happen. I wanted the story to reach a high point but I was disappointed.
Savannah is portrayed as a weak indecisive woman. She was whiney and didn’t really admit to her share of faults in her marriage and that bothered me. The end of the book leaves us with a cliff hanger which I didn’t mind since there are two more books that follow.
I liked the idea of the book. I believe a lot of married women might relate with Savannah’s predicament. However, this book was just OK. It was well written. It had no spelling or grammatical mistakes. It was a fast paced and easy going. The only problem I had while reading it was that I didn’t "live" it.
I would give this book 3 out of 4 because even though I liked the idea of the book, I didn’t feel like I was swept away by it. If you like spicy, fast paced books, this might be a good book for you. There are some explicit scenes as well, so take that into consideration.
