The Queen of Xana by Fred Pilcher is an interesting book to read which will keep you mentally engaged and will make you always turn to the next page, so you will know what happens next. After reading the book, my reviews on the book are:
One aspect of the storyline that I did not like is the way Queen Julia's story just ended. The book did not tell me how she died; it only told me that she was already dead. Queen Julia should not have died the time she did, especially, at that moment. The writer should have prolonged Queen Julia's reign as queen of Xana a bit.
Another aspect of the storyline that I did not like is the way Magi the sorcerer just appeared out of the blue; not related to Agatha's visions. Though I know that Magi was the villain of the story, I do not like the way he appeared and spoilt Agatha's dreams and visions for her great land- Xana.
The third aspect of the storyline that I did not like, is, why was Magi not captured or controlled if he was living in Xana? Peradventure, he was living far from the land, the councilors in the land should have devised plans to try to control him even if he cannot be stopped until the prince and princess meet; at least he could have been controlled.
Despite all said above, the book's storyline is good, captivating an exceptional. I love the writing style which the writer employed when working on his book. Pilcher was really good at creating nice mental images with his words. He was able to draw good linking connectors between each scene. I would say Pilcher's artistic and creative sense is good, which made good pathways for him to come up with such a good plot.
The novel's arrangement is another laudable aspect that I compliment. The writer was able to arrange his book's scenes well. From drawing his mental images well on his book to arranging and well labeling- fantastic. Pilcher arranged his book's scenes well, which made easy connections between me and the novel.
Fred Pilcher shared and arranged his story scenes in a unique way. The plot is about a girl named Agatha, the princess of Xana who grew up in wealth and happiness. Agatha enjoyed a good education, abundant provisions, happiness and much more in her childhood, that she thought the world lived the way she lived, only to discover that the citizens of her land lived in poverty. In the bid to change the poor lifestyle of her citizens, she made plans of which some failed initially, but later her dreams, plans, and visions became a reality. Agatha's mother Queen Julia did her best in raising a good daughter, princess, and queen-to-be, but Queen Julia was uncomfortable in her daughter's vision of making the land common citizens all wealthy. After a period of time, Agatha became the queen and faced some challenges which she overcame with the support and love from her husband- prince Olaf, and from the people of the land. Queen Agatha and her husband transformed the land into a better one. Soon they grew old and died, but will Agatha's vision still be a reality after her demise?
The book is good, captivating, and interesting. I recommend the book to adult readers who are interested in monarch stories. I rate the book four out of four stars . I did not give a lower rating because the scenes were arranged well and the storyline was captivating. I do not recommend the book to young ones below sixteen years because the plot contains adult scenes.
