Do you watch the news? Do you feel like you understand the political atmosphere in the U.S.A. right now? Is it possible that our government has become so ineffective, that we as a nation can't even agree on what constitutes a dilemma, much less come together to solve one? Have partisan politics become so duplicitous that we as citizens are being manipulated right out of our freedoms? If you have asked yourself any of these questions you need to read The Red Wave Imperative by Alan Schein. It provides an in depth, easy to read, compilation of facts, statistics, and strategies being used to steal our democracy.

While decidely conservative, Schein provides a deeper look into the ideologies and policies of both political parties. He demonstrates how the Democratic Party has used the media to further their own agenda at our expense by creating a narrative that turns citizens against each other, promotes hate and violence, and encourages lawlessness. He shows how they instigated class warfare to the point that the promises of entitlement have the masses willing to traipse down the path toward socialism, even though socialsm only benefits the elite in power. He offers concrete evidence that their "belief" in socialsm is just a ploy to gain voters. They are so upset by the shift in power that they are willing to destroy our way of life. The book also demonstrates how obstructionism has become the main goal of the far left. Examples are given to prove that their viewpoints will change depending on who is in power at the time. Policies that they supported and created just a few years ago are being hailed (by them) as inhumane, illegal, and devisive now that the opposing party is in control. The Red Wave Imperative shows that the government has become so out of touch with the people that the primary focus has become "triumphing" over the opposing party, not what is best for the country as a whole. Schein clearly believes the far left agenda has placed us in jeopardy, but allows that Republucans have not fought hard enough to push their proposed legislation into existence. Essentially, nothing is getting accomplished on either side to keep our country balanced and prosperous.

Schein lays bare numerous issues that we face as a country. He paints a vivid picture of the state of the union right now and frankly, it is embarrassing for us as a nation. He effectively shows many of our weaknesses and insinuates that we will eventually implode if we don't reconsider our approach to democracy. I happen to agree. We have to start thinking outside the box if we want to preserve our democracy. Our government was founded for the people, by the people, and the people need to regain control. Schien proposed a concept used in other countries that afford the populace the right to oust politicians that have not lived up to the voters expectations once in office. Seemingly, it would prevent lifelong positions in government that increase personal wealth at the expense of constituents. This "Voter Controlled Democracy" puts one party in total control (which seems a little scary), but eliminates the stagnation brought on by the lack of cooperation between the two parties. If you don't perform (as a whole party), your faction is voted out and replaced with the other option (as a whole party). This concept has helped lower crime, increased home ownership, raised education levels and increased voter satisfaction. Will it work here? I don't know, but I am definitely grateful to Alan Schein for offering an alternative that I can research and form an informed opinion. For that reason, I give The Red Wave Imperative a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves this country and is looking for a way to help preserve our basic values and beliefs. Regardless of your political affiliation, this book is worth reading. It provides information for those just beginning to explore their personal political stances, and alternative paths for those that are established in their beliefs but realize that our system may be on the brink of failure. I like the fact that the book offers readers the chance to voice their opinion by going to the provided website. The thing that I didn't like was coming to the realization that our precious nation is in serious jeopardy of being destroyed from the inside.

The book was well written and easy to read. The contents were presented in layman's terms so terminology was not overwhelmingly boring or hard to understand. Ideas were introduced in a concise manner and the editing appeared very professional.

I am afraid the very partisan nature of this book - blaming one side entirely (simply saying the Republicans haven't fought hard enough is not blame) for the situation our country is in - means I am not likely to read it. I agree that we have definitive issues in our country right now, but simply blaming one side entirely and then putting the other side in control is not an idea I like - not for the party I disagree with, but also not for the party I tend to side with.
