Rynah was a security guard, swore to protect her planet Lanyr. When Klanor stole the crystal that made their planet stable and habitable, Rynah must race across the 12 sectors and find the 6 crystals in order to save the planet Lanyr, and all of the other sectors.

Janet McNulty’s Solaris Seethes is a Sci-Fi novel, space adventure filled with action. Rynah who doesn’t believe any of the legend about the crystal, find herself an unlikely band of resources- Solaris a very cool spaceship with a personality, build by his grandfather, Marlow. Together with a team of four disparate humans teleported by Solaris from different times and places throughout earth’s history. Embarks Solaris on a journey to seek both revenge and save the whole world from Klanors unmerciful hands.

Just a little confusing as character appears, it becomes quickly robotic and forced. It’s like, I felt a little rushed through the entire book. I really wanted to know more about Marlow, how he built Solaris, what kind of relationship he and Rynah had. I don’t want him dead yet, but maybe on some pages there’s Marlow’s story about his brief life with Rynah. In several instances, I was introduced to a seemingly important character whom I never saw or felt again. Almost as though, the author didn’t have the desire to fill in all the necessary word and character building. I am really desperate to know more about the character of Brie, Tom, most especially Solon and Alfric. I want to know what kind of person they are, and what personality they possesses how come Solaris choose them to help Rynah saving the planet.

Within the first pages, it’s clear that the authors mistakes came from her inability to properly introduce characters. On my opinion, the characters are under develop and sometimes unrealistic. Character development was minimal, some feelings and actions of the main character, I just felt it a moment, but I didn’t fully grasp what really happened about their action and feelings.

But other than character unrealistic and character under develop, I truly enjoyed the journey and adventure of Solaris. Travel to exotic locations, I love Rynah’s emerald hair color. And I really adore Solon’s character, who is a young scribe and loves to read and give insightful words. One of the word Solon says that cut my being is: “What is life without few bruises to toughen our character”. Even if Solon is not a brave fighter like Alfric, he is indeed an intelligent young fine man. Other thing i love this book is, they have a separate planet where they can dispose all their trashes and garbage. This story of Rynah and Solaris brings the world of science into science fiction. Young adults, together with other people who adores pirates, solar system, and very cool spaceship, this book will surely blow your head out.

I will give this book 3 out of 4 stars.. Overall the book was enjoyable, even though the writing is a little bit lame and clumsy. But still I recommend it to every one. It would be a great read for many people who love adventure novels. It was funny and light hearted but also tough on serious topics. Solaris Seethes has a really good set of character that are easy to love and relate to.

I read the book and have many of the same feelings as you. I felt the characters were underdeveloped and a lot was left out of the story. I thought that it could have been a great book. The story line was very interesting but I just didn't feel the love for the main character. I did like the ships personality. Thanks for your review.
