One Way or Another was written by Mary J. Williams. It is the first book of “The Sisters Quartet” series.
As the Series’ name suggests, there are four sisters, Andi, Calder, Bryce and Destry Benedict. This novel centers around Calder and her new-found love, Adam Stone.
I would have to say that, after reading this novel, Mary J. Williams has a unique and different writing style from that of other authors. Although her writing is straight forward and easy to follow, she makes common use of one-word sentences. This, to me, is unique. As most authors make common use of the comma.
Overall, I would give this book four out of four stars as my official rating.
The book was well edited. I found only one typo and that was a missing period at the end of a sentence on page forty-five in paragraph nine on line five. There should have been a period after “wrong”. This was the last word of the paragraph.
I was interested and anxious to begin reading the book after only reviewing the description. My anticipation was not a disappointment. I loved the book and literally couldn’t stop reading it. I was captivated from beginning to end.
The story line was diverse yet punctual. Although there were many characters in play simultaneously throughout most of the book, they’re interactions weren’t jumbled and mangled together. They were presented in their own retrospect. Each character was given a unique voice and purpose. Their positions and necessity to the story line were clear.
Most novels that I’ve read, in reference to the super-wealthy, have solely reflected on the vastness of the characters’ bank account and worldly assets. As well as their privileged rights to act with immense haughtiness. This novel was refreshingly different. Although it made reference to the characters and their wealthy attributes, it also referenced the responsibilities, struggles and dangers that come along with such a vast fortune.
In this novel the Benedict sisters have an abundant and sizeable inheritance. This does not represent who they are. Each one is humble, intelligent and successful at their respective trades. They are sincere and thoughtful without being naïve to the dangers of the world. They love each other wholly and unconditionally. Unfortunately, this type of love was thought impossible to find outside of the “circle of sisters”. That is, until Calder meets Adam.
As with any relationship, there are a few bumps in the road. However, in the end, love does prevail. Ultimately squashing the theory that good guys always finish last.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves life-like characters and true romance. As for myself, I can’t wait to begin reading the next book in the series.
