Lincoln Cole’s Raven's Peak is the first book of the "World on fire" series. It is a supernatural thriller that immediately and completely immerses the reader into a world of demons, exorcisms and nonstop action. The book is a quick and easy read at 218 pages with the help of its lovable main characters and addictive content. It contains a few minor typographical errors but they do not hamper readability.
Abigail is on another mission, gathering information against the ninth circle on behalf of the council. But nothing takes precedence over her primary mission; finding and rescuing her adoptive father, Arthur. When she stumbles upon Haatim and learns of his supernatural background, she endeavors to keep him safe at all cost. She is surprised when she finds herself opening up to him and spilling her darkest secrets.
Haatim is a university graduate who is mourning the lost of his sister. He takes on an odd job as a distraction and quickly realizes that he has gotten way more than he had bargained for. It forces him to place his life completely in the hands of a stranger as he discovers the nature of his true self and restores his faith in God.
My initial plan when I first downloaded this book was to read a certain amount of pages per day so I can finish the book before the deadline. However, upon reading the first few pages, I simply could not put it down. I immediately fell in love with the main character Abigail and Haatim and was forcefully shoved on a roller coaster ride of emotions whenever they came within a breath of harm’s way. The novel was fast-paced and action packed and I loved every bit. I can't with a good conscience say anything negative about this book. That being said, my favorite part was the author’s ideology that in the battle of good versus evil, evil is defeated not through the character’s own strengths but through prayer and the power of God.
I happily rate this book 4 out of 4 stars because of its action packed and thrilling content and its loveable characters. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good read and doesn’t mind being kept at the edge of their seat constantly in suspense. However, God is referred to in the book as ‘She’ though it is known that God is male. This is a warning to any Christians that may happen upon the book and be trigger.I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading the other installments.
