Ben Schneider's Chrome Mountain is a fast paced thriller filled with exciting energy as the pair Trey and Sonya team up from an unlikely encounter, and together, take on a team of high-tech terrorist. This story begins by introducing the protagonists by their individual backgrounds. Sonya, who is escaping the violent clutch of her ex-boyfriend and leader of her biker gang by going home to care for her ailing grandmother. Trey, a brilliant scientist, who invents a device that can change the world and subsequently destroys said device out of fear that it would destroy the world. The two meet up by a stroke of luck while Trey is pursued by an evil terrorist group named the Chrome Falcons.

Confused as to why he is being zeroed in on, Trey takes off to get away from the group and finds that the authorities believe he is part of the Chrome Falcons and set their sights on him as well. Sonya helps Trey escape a run-in with the police thus catapulting them into a whirlwind of show-downs and shoot-outs to try and break free from this group. Sonya and Trey prove to be resilient and resourceful through their encounters, but end up being caught by the terrorists. Being captured proves to work in their favor, as they are exposed to resources that enable them in their attempt to break free. Utilizing everything they have, Trey and Sonya prepare for the day that the Chrome Falcons return for them, by going incognito and creating a safe-house in a hotel room.

Eventually teaming up with the FBI that want to bring down the terrorist organization as well, Trey and Sonya find it hard to be up against an organization that is this wide spread and advanced in technology. Trey and Sonya must not only fight for themselves, but for the benefit of their family, friends and the general public from mass casualties ensuing. Amidst all the chaos and living under the radar, Sonya finds herself still looking over her shoulder for the chance encounter with her crazy ex and the biker gang she want free from. Trey and Sonya learn that working together proves fruitful and beneficial as well the capacity they hold within themselves and eventually each other. The dynamic of their relationship proves to be intriguing and genuine.

I never found a dull moment while reading this book. I found it to be very exciting and enjoyed the portrayal Sonya's character. I easily related to her background and identified with what she was dealing with. It was easy to understand the narrative and felt Schneider did a superb job with the development of all the characters, even the supporting ones. I feel like any one who understands technology and where it is going would enjoy this book as well as this who like high energy in their stories.

The more I delved into this story, I felt that most, if not all, the main focus was on the violent scenes portrayed in the story. A christian theme did surface, but the manner in which it did so felt more forced then genuine giving this book an unrealistic feel. I did find that this book was keenly edited as I found no grammatical errors therefore rating this book 3 out of 4 stars. The way the story ended, I got the impression that there could be more stories involving this duo. I would definitely read other books by this author and would like to see this book as the begining of a series.
