WE ARE VOULHIRE Someone else`s end by Matthew Tysz is a scientific fiction novel in a series of novels. The book is set outside of earth. The place is divided between humans and other species. Humans are the least evolved of all the species in terms of magic. The other species are headed by a very powerful emperor in terms of magic and power who is planning to subjugate the humans. The humans are further divided by their own ambitions. Meldorath is the most powerful human and has great magic. He also is an enemy of King Wilhelm who is a human king over the territory of Voulhire. The cause of their enmity is not mentioned but it is clear that King Wilhelm attacked Meldorath and his men and killed many of them although Meldorath escaped.

King Wilhelm holds a court session in order to listen to the people. There is a growing popularity of the idea to save refugees who were forced out of their homes by the Emperor of Lullabies. Some people opposed the idea and other supported it. The king decides to hold the public court to listen to both sides and the make the decision. It is during one of those sessions that the emperor of Lullabies attacks and kills King Wilhelm using his soldiers. After the death of the king, people’s personal ambitions are seen as they lobby for the next king. Meldorath who has taken over as the Eiodi; that is the religious leader uses his influence to make Natrik the king although Natrik had made a deal with the emperor of Lullabies to have the king killed and the other humans spare. The king had been killed and many people too. With a new king, the council that was extremely powerful was greatly divided even with the swearing in of the new king. With enemies attacking from all sides, will the people unite to fight the enemies or will their personal ambitions be more important?

The book is quite interesting and intriguing. It is written in the first-person narrative and this made connecting to the story and creating an image easier. The book was professionally edited since I found only one mistake.

The book however has many episodes and parts and one has to be keen in order to keep up with the story. Also the book has a slow start but the pace increases as the book proceeds.

I give the book 4 out of 4 stars for its great quality in terms of content and editing. The book also stands independent although it is part of a series. I recommend the book to all young readers and lovers of scientific fiction and fantasy books
