Just as its subtitle reads, this book is indeed a refreshing re-examination of the Garden of Eden. The book captures man’s relationship with God before and after the fall with quite an interesting variance to existing analogies carried out on the topic of ‘The Fall of Man’. The author, William E. Combs tries to approach this topic from an angle of love, redemption, sacrifice, inspiration and pure desire for fellowship with God as against the popular views that dwell on rebellion, disobedience, greed or man’s strive for equality with God. He however, doesn’t excuse or downplay the possibility of these views being part of the fall.

I found the Cover page for Who told you that you were naked? to be very colourful and attractive with a good image representation of what depicts a garden - the scene wherein this question was asked. However, since continuous debates and speculations exist as to whether the fruit consumed by Eve in the garden was in existence, the use of the Apple fruit as the illustrative object should have been reconsidered.

The introduction was properly furnished with good humour, an apt and comprehensive chapters' summary to arouse a reader’s interest. The author’s choice to employ the narrative form of writing with inclusive life testimonies gave the book a lighter atmosphere for ease of flow and relatedness to the events that were discussed. I loved particularly that William E. Combs included study questions at the end of each chapter with end-notes containing references that could engage the reader to further studies for self-discovery and growth.

Being a lover of learning new words, this book gave me the opportunity to increase my word library with the word “birthday suit” as my favourite. My rating for this book is a complete 4 out of 4 stars because I love that this book was edited professionally, devoid of grammatical errors or omissions and properly organized. The author also highlighted key points within the body of the work that could be taken out as lessons or notes.

Who told you that you were naked? is a book I highly recommend for people who are just beginning their walk in the Christian Faith and are seeking to learn how to establish and perfect their relationship with God. I would also recommend it to anyone who desires to know more about Christianity. This book is starting point for converts as well as a mirror guide for those already in the Faith.
