Interested in what could be the future? Then the book is for you. 30th Century: Escape deals with an interesting story of a woman Jennifer of 30th century who led a team of 50 members to go on a mission.The mission was to go to 27th century through one-way time machine to spread a virus in early Syndos that can bring moral compass in present-day(30th century) Syndos, a new specie created by future humans who now want to wipe out humans only. But, for her own curiosity and attraction towards 21st century, Jennifer took herself to year 2015 leaving her team and mission in 27th century.
She was rescued by a team of researchers after over 4 months of her survival in an abandoned and radioactive island.She molded a story of suffering from Amnesia and found new friends. She rescued a dolphin from a fishing net, saved life of an injured, shown interest in archaeology and marine science and done much more which was noticed by relatives of a girl with same name, complexion and love for nature who was lost with her parents on one of their sea voyages. The relatives assumed her to be the same and Jennifer accepted the identity which helped her survive in this time.She pursued for many PhDs and got some. She fell into depression when the family told her that her DNA matched with that lost girl. She couldn't believe. How her DNA can match with a girl of the past? How can they have same characteristics? Will her team's mission ever get successful without her leadership? Will her identity of the future reveals before her new friends? What if they know her reality? Will she be able to survive? Or some other twist or secret is waiting for her? All these questions will be answered in this fantastic book.
Dr. Levin has published over 44 times in scientific literature and was awarded over 32 patents and this book is his first work in science fiction. He has picturised Hawaiian and Polynesian islands beautifully.He has given description of his own research on "dark energy" through Jennifer's PhDs.
The book is full of fun for me. I loved most of it except the idea of girls having love together as it is uncommon today and I don't like this idea. Except that the book is fantastic and even if these portions were not there the story is unaffected. The book is inappropriate for those who won't like this idea. Those who want to explore archaeological, anthropological and scientific discussions the book is for them. Those who are interested in time-travel stories the book is for them.
It is impressive to have women as protagonists. Also, the writing style is not too tough to understand. I want to give this book 3 out of 4 stars as I loved most of it and recommend others for the same if they can ignore the portions involving bisexuality (as I did).
